Ali's anti-Moscow mission fails to get extra backing

Muhammad Ali left for Washington Sunday after a five-nation African tour that apparently failed in its intended purpose of enlisting additional support for President Carter's call for a boycott of the Moscow Olympics.

While he was greeted warmly by most Africans, the former heavyweight champion failed to persuade Nigeria and Senegal to boycott the Summer Olympiad. Two other countries Mr. Ali visited, Kenya and Liberia, had previously announced they would not send athletes to Moscow, while the fifth, Tanzania, has not yet made a decision.
