Colorful pictures, lively tales; Caesar, Cock of the Village, by Philippe Dumas. New Jersey: Prentice-Hall Inc.

If you are a French cock perched on a French weathervane you meet all of the different people in your French village. This is what Caesar does one Easter morning. He meets everyone from Duke the electrician to Pinole the policeman, and all have a decided interest in Caesar. Caesar's sojourn may be too long for many readers, but it is far from leisurely. The illustrations, done by the author, evoke a distinctly Gallic village and characters who are at home there.
