Study warns of chemical peril to Great Lakes

Only strict control of phosphorous and a full ban on the "production, sale, transport, and use" of toxic substances within the Great Lakes region will help the lakes to survive, an eight-year study by the International Joint Commission, a US-Canadian environmental panel, concluded.
