Ted Kennedy wants California the most this week. President Carter wants Ohio. The "Super Tuesday" primaries on June 3 will take place in nine states, but Kennedy is counting on California to be his crowbar- in-the-door to pry open the Democratic convention.

By all current delegate counts, the convention nearly belongs to Carter already. But the President wants a resounding win in Ohio to prove his clout in the industrial midlands and to convince the Kennedy camp to support him.

Some Democrats worry that heavy use of negative TV advertising by both sides in the final moments will damage the strength of any Democratic nominee in the fall.m
