Athletes of boycott lands barred as Olympic 'solos'

The International Olympic Committee has ruled that athletes whose national sports federations have joined the United States-initiated boycott may not compete in the Moscow summer games on an individual basis. Committee rules allow athletes to appeal through their national committees, but such appeals would be turned down unless supported by the national Olympic committee involved , the committee president, Lord Killanin, said.
