Salvadorah leftist groups unite to overthrow junta

El Salvador's four most powerful leftist guerrilla groups are uniting under one umbrella organization -- the Revolutionary Military Coordinating Committee -- to plan joint actions to overthrow the five-man, US-backed ruling junta, a guerrilla spokesman told United Press International. The new committee will comprise the Armed Forces of National Resistance, the Popular revolutionary Forces, the People's Revolutionary Army, and the Salvadoran Communist Party.

Also under formation is the Revolutionary Union Coordinating Committee, a coalition of 80 labor unions with 100,000 members, which will ally itself with the powerful leftist Democratic Revolutionary Front.
