Five of the names most often suggested as Reagan running mates are Gerald Ford, George Bush, Sen. Howard Baker, Rep. Jack Kemp, and Sen. Richard Lugar of Indiana.

Rep. Tom Evans of Delaware, who chairs Reagan's congressional steering committee, said these five make up the current list of possibilities.

Ford has suggested each of the other four as good, moderate choices and has ruled himself out. Many former Bush supporters on Capitol Hill now favor a Reagan-Bush ticket. And Kemp has an active committee of promoters for the post.
