Chase Manhattan raises prime a quarter-point

Chase Manhattan, the nation's third largest bank, raised the prime lending rate it charges its most creditworthy corporate customers to 11 1/2 percent Tuesday, from 11 1/4 percent, the second increase in a week. The prevailing rate is 11 1/4 percent, but other banks are expected to follow Chase.
