More than 100 are linked to Chicago graft scandal

Federal investigators have evidence linking more than 100 people, including judges and legislators, to a briefly scandal that could prove one of the biggest political corruption case ever uncovered in the United States, the Chicago Tribune reported Monday. The scandal, involving kickbacks to get real estate tax assessments reduced by the Cook County Book of appeals (which deals with the whole of metropolitan Chigaco), has already resulted in the indictment of 13 people last week on charges of fraudulently obtaining an estimated $30 million in tax reductions. The Tribune says the FBI and the US attorney's office are assembling further evidence to present to a grand jury, and more indicments are expected.
