China's octogenarian Defense Minister, Marshal Xu Xiangqian, apparently will retain his post awhile longer. The nation's leadership is trying to ease out its senior people for qualified successors who are in "the prime of life." But to date, leaders have been unable to find the right new person for Defense -- a prestigious and very sensitive post.
