Actors OK tentative script for terms with producers

Motion picture and television actors have reached a tentative contract settlement with producers. The Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Televeision and Radio Artists, the industry's two powerful unions, agreed to the proposed contract after a final 181/2 hour bargaining session. But even if the actors accept the settlement, there is some question as to whether they will cross picket lines set by the American Federation of Musicians, which has yet to reach an agreement with producers.

The strike by 67,000 actors began July 12 and affected 30,000 workers in related fields. It cost the industry an estimates $40 million a week and stalled the opening opening of the fall television season.
