The united States conducted two underground nuclear tests in the Nevada desert Thursday, the Energy Department reported. It said the explosions each had a yield range of between 20 and 150 kilotons, equivalent to between 20,000 and 150,000 tons of TNT. The US has conducted 12 such tests so far this year.
