Wherever the Reagan-Bush team campaigns over the next few weeks, members of the National Organization for Women (NOW) plan to be cloase behind. "You'll see our people picketing like crazy," insists NOW spokeswoman Nancy Thompson. "Out goal is to defeat Reagan, and whatever can be done, our people will be out doing."

The impetus for action with NOW members came at the group's annual conference in San Antonio, Texas. Here the decision was made to withdraw the group's opposition to Jimmy Carter -- endorsing that part of the Democratic platform which covers women's issues, and to do everything possible to defeat Reagan, who opposes the Equal Rights Amendment. While no candidates is getting its endorsement, NOW member support will varyingly go to "whichever candidate is mot likely to pull votes away from Reagan," according to Ms. Thompson.
