30 Americans freed from Cuban prisons

Cuba released 30 Americans who have spent as much as a decade in Cuban prisons, but 5 faced arrest as soon as they stepped from their chartered jet onto US soil. The other 25 former Cuban prisoners will be processed at the airport by State Department officials and given quick health checks. The bulk of the prisoners had been jailed on charges ranging from illegal entry and narcotics trafficking to distributing religious tracts and anticommunist propaganda. Cuban President Fidel Castro granted pardons to 33 prisoners on Oct. 13.three chose not to return to the United States.
