Two former FBI officials found guilty on break-ins

A federal jury found former top FBI officials W. Mark Felt and Edward S. Miller guilty of charges they conspired to approve illegal break-ins in a hunt for fugitive radicals in 1972 and 1973. The jury apparently rejected defense arguments that Mr. Felt and Mr. Miller reasonably believed they had authority from acting FBI director L. Patrick Gray for the break-ins in 1972 and '73. The men face a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
