Our name is about honesty. The Monitor is owned by The Christian Science Church, and we’ve always been transparent about that.

Viktor Brailovsky, a leading Jewish activist, was arrested and charged with slandering the Soviet state, his wife said. Mr. Brailovsky is the editor of an underground journal, Jews in the USSR, which last appeared in June 1979. Soviet authorities have repeatedly refused him a visa to emigrate, and his apartment has been searched several times by police. The charge of slandering the state carries a maximum sentence of three years in a labor camp.
