Israelis fire at students protesting over university

Israeli soldiers fired at the legs of stone-throwing Arab high school students protesting the closing of a university and wounded 10 of them, official sources said. The students were protesting the military government's decision to shut down Bir Zeit University, the major university in the occupied region, for staging a four-day Palestinian folklore and cultural event last week. The university, considered a hotbed of resistance to the military occupation, was closed for several months last year after student riots.
