Toymakers last Christmas were caught with their chips down. They couldn't meet demand for their electronic toys and games because they didn't have enough electronic memory chips. Not so this year. Toymakers have learned the ins and outs of the electronics industry and chip suppliers, not wanting to get caught with their chips down, have geared up production lines to meet demand.

Another reason for the improvement, toymakers say, is that the microprocessor manufacturers are finally taking them seriously as customers -- on a par with office computer companies.m
