Greyhound to keep rolling pending vote on contract

Greyhound bus service is guaranteed through the holidays while 15,000 drivers , mechanics, and terminal employees mail in their votes on a new contract proposal, an official said. Oliver Clausen, vice-president of the Amalgamated Council of Greyhound Local Unions, said votes on the latest proposal would be counted Jan. 5. The union earlier agreed to continue working under terms of the old contract, which expired Oct. 31, until the ratification vote was completed.

The latest proposal is the third put before the rank and file since negotiations began. The first was rejected overwhelmingly in October and the second was rejected last week.
