John Lennon, the Beatle

Radio airwaves around the world, including some Communist countries, were filled with the music of the Beatles in tribute to John Lennon, who was shot and killed in New York Monday night. Belgrade Radio broadcast Beatles songs and praised Lennon as a musician who had helped his group to "start the wheel which has made the music of the young never be the same again."

A story on John Lennon's career will appear in tomorrow's Monitor.
