Bank cards show small decline

Bank-card midyear statistics for the US showed a combined Visa/MasterCard gross charge volume of $25.26 billion, off 3.3 percent from June 30 last year, according to the Nilson Report.

By the end of 1980, volume was projected to reach $51.7 billion for a drop of 7 percent from $55.6 billion in 1979.

At the end of the first six months in 1980, delinquent payments more than 30 days past due as a percentage of outstandings were 3.7 percent for Interbank and 4.2 percent for Visa.

Interbank claimed 57,182,315 MasterCards in circulation in the US against Visa's 63,983,000.

Worldwide, Interbank reported 79.6 million cards and gross volume of $17.8 billion compared with Visa's 86.4 million cards and $20.2 bil lion.
