Canada told officials of Chrysler Canada that it would not guarantee $200 million (Canadian dollars) in loans if Chrysler scaled back investment there. And Canada's industry minister said, "It appears that the accord the US loan board has with Chrysler depends on agreement here." Chrysler Canada plans to cut back its $1 billion investment program by $400 million, breaching an agreement of last spring. About 35,00 0 jobs depend on Chrysler Canada.
