the price of gold slumped Monday as a wave of unexpected selling hit European billion markets. The metal fell to $528 an ounce, $24 below its level on Friday and its lowest value since last May. It later recovered slightly to $533. The main reasons for the selling appeared to be a calmer international political climate.
