Italians cautious on effect of develuation, credit vise

Italians reacted with caution and skepticism Monday to their government's 6 percent devaluation of the lira and tight credit curbs. In an atmosphere of uncertainty reflecting contradictory views over the likely effect of the measures on Italy's 20 percent inflation rate, the lira fell about 2 per cent against leading European currencies.
