World study sees output of oil rising for 30 years

In the most optimistic major study of recent years, scientists from East and West predict rising oil production for another 30 years and US self-sufficiency in the year 2010. The seven years of research by more than 140 scientists from 20 nations painted a brighter picture than past doomsday scenarios, which predicted oil production peaking in the 1980s.

The study, the product of unprecedented cooperation by Eastern and Western scientists, said that by the time oil production peaks in the next century, the US, South America, Eastern Europe, and China will be producing enough oil for their own needs.
