More words to the wise on the sad subject of under-age drinking. Note the bad example of a Massachussets dormitory master giving a beer party for graduating prep-schoolers, all too young to obtain beer legally. Note the several instances cited at last week's conference on athletics, alcohol, and drug abuse at the University of Wisconsin: school officials who overlook alcohol violations in the case of athletes; parents who provide "role models" of drunkenness at booster parties for the home team; teachers whose own drinking undercuts their disciplining of students who break the drinking laws.

Come to think of it, maybe the words to the wise should be for those young people who see alcohol for what it is an d are smart enough not to imitate their erring elders.
