The handicapped climbers who scaled Mt. Rainier have brought a valuable focus to an often overlooked aspect of the International Year of the Disabled: it is a reminder not only of the needs of the world's physically or mentally impaired individuals but of their ability to transcend difficulties.President Reagan honored his office as well as the climbers by recognizing them so handsomely.
