Kansas City hotel disaster undergoes investigation

The collapse of two suspended walkways which killed 111 people at the Hyatt Regency Hotel is under investigation by the city and the hotel's owners, designers, and builders.

The 40-story hotel, which opened less than a year ago, was empty Sunday, its guests allowed to return only to collect their belongings. Hotel officials would not speculate on how soon they would reopen. The $50 million, 733-room hotel had opened as a symbol of hopes for rebuilding the downtown area and was an important part of the city's tourist and conventi on business.
