US to open more centers for counseling Viet vets

The Veterans Administration said it will open an additional 42 storefront counseling facilities to help Vietnam veterans with readjustment problems. The Reagan administration had planned to cut back such centers. But veterans groups complained loudly and the announcement indicated that the budget for the operation will be increased from $21 million to $29 million.

The agency expects the new centers to serve more than 12,000 veterans in the first year of operation. An estimated 72,000 have been treated at 91 existing facilities
