Rugby officials to weigh New Zealand compromise

The New Zealand Rugby Football Union will consider a suggestion that it cancel the final match of the controversial South African tour in return for a reduced level of anti-apartheid protest, a union official reports.

A meeting among Prime Minister Robert Muldoon, police, Rugby officials, and representatives of both anti- and pro-tour groups produced a possible compromise that would reduce the level of protest while giving a representative of the anti-tour movement an opp ortunity to present its case at each game.
