Range fires raging in 5 Western states

Two Nevada range fires burned out of control near scenic Lake Tahoe Tuesday, turning 9,000 acres of suburbs and brushland into a federal disaster area. And despite the efforts of more than 2,000 firefighters, other blazes fueled by temperatures exceeding 100 degrees and gale-force winds raged across parts of California, Nevada, Oregon, Idaho, and Utah, blackening 100,000 acres of valuable timber, farm, and rangela nd.
