Tourists lose the luxury as Italian workers strike

Tourists in luxury hotels here went without food or service as workers in all areas -- from restaurant staff to lifeguards -- joined an eight-hour nationwide strike of 800,000 workers in Italy's troubled tourist sector. The strike, the latest in a spate of disputes that has hit the already declining Italian tourist business is over contract renegotiations .
