More peanut butter is on the way, folks

Peanut butter lovers take heart -- the American peanut crop is on the rebound from last year's drought that sent peanut butter prices soaring. Based on Aug. 1 conditions the Agriculture Department forecasts the crop at 3.69 billion pounds, a dramatic 60 percent increase from last year. The 1980 crop was so small that the US imported foreign peanuts to keep the nuts in the pipeline and reduce pressures on peanut supplies and prices.
