$1,000-a-plate dinner -- with Ralph Nader

Ralph Nader has decided to go after big bucks with a tool more often used by politicians and big business -- a $1,000-a-plate fund-raising dinner -- aides report. But the affair will not be black tie.

The Sept. 26 dinner in Washington marks the first time Mr. Nader has asked for more than $15 or $20 from supporters, said Sid Wolfe, director of Public Citizen Inc., the Nader umbrella organization. He said 80 to 90 percent of the group's funding has traditionally come from small donations.
