Karpov beats challenger, taking 2-0 lead in chess

World chess champion Anatoly Karpov of the Soviet Union beat Victor Korchnoi in the second game of his championship defense Sunday to take a 2-0 lead in the series. (The first player of win six games will win the match.) The challenger, playing black, resigned on his 57th move.
