Wayne Hays: off the Hill to a rural school board

It's a long way from Washington power brokering to a rural Ohio school board. That's the journey Wayne Hays has made. Mr. Hays, once one of the nation's most powerful congressmen before being forced out of office in a sex scandal, has been elected to the Belmont County (Ohio) Board of Education.
Hays resigned from Congress in 1976. Two years later he returned to politics in Ohio and was elected to the state House of Representatives. But he lost his reelection bid last year, quashing talk he might run again for Congress.
