A couple of toymakers accused of TV ad abuse

The toys you see advertised on television may not be what you get when you buy, Monitor TV critic Arthur Unger cautions. He reports that two major toy companies have been accused by Action for Children's Television (ACT) of ''deceptive and unfair advertising'' in their TV commercials aimed at children.

ACT has filed complaints with the Federal Trade Commission against Tyco Industries Inc. (manufacturer of the Tyco Jeep CJ Snake-Track) and Ideal Toy Company (manufacturer of the Ideal Dukes of Hazzard Electric Slot Racing Set). According to ACT, in their TV commercials both companies use special video techniques that ''distort and exaggerate the size, appearance, and performance" of the product.
