Hum in electronic mail seen

Over 11 billion messages will be sent via electronic mail in 1995 - up from 930 million in 1980 - creating a $5.7 billion US market for electronic mail equipment. An analysis of the industry recently released by Predicasts Inc., a business information and market research firm, says electornic mail growth will concentrate on intracompany communications.

Although telephone calls and first-class mail will continue to dominate the US message market, their ''inherent liabilities'' will increase the popularity of speedy electronic mail among businesses, the report says.
