Toyota says it will set up a US factory in mid-'80s

Toyota, Japan's biggest carmaker, has decided to set up a manufacturing plant in the United States in the mid-1980s, leading Japanese newspapers said.

Company officials are quoted as saying a plant able to produce 200,000 to 250 ,000 cars a year would be completed in the Midwest in 1985 or '86.

Honda, the world's largest motorcycle manufacture, is expected to complete a car manufacturing plant in Ohio by the end of this year, and Nissan, Japan's second-biggest carmaker, is expected to complete a truck manufacturing plant in Colorado in 1983.
