Opposition party gains in Irish election drive

About these ads

An opinion poll published in the Irish Republic indicates the opposition Fianna Fail Party boosted its chances in Thursday's general election by promising to hold down the cost of food and clothing.

The Irish Times poll gave Fianna Fail a five-point lead over the center-left coalition of Prime Minister Garret FitzGerald, although it indicated his popularity was still high.
