Town in Maryland votes itself nuclear-free zone

Residents of this community 15 miles from the White House voted 245 to 46 to make their town a nuclear-free zone, approving a resolution to ban transportation, storage, or manufacture of nuclear weapons within the 123-acre Washington suburb. It was believed to be the first such nuclear weapons ban declared by an American town.
