10,000 Thai inmates freed in a bicentennial gesture

About 10,000 prisoners, including nearly 740 foreigners convicted on drugs and illegal-entry charges, will be released from Thai jails under a royal amnesty marking the bicentenary of the reigning Chakri Dynasty. Some 40,000 other prisoners will receive reduced sentences under amnesty.
