Cuba to get A-station provided by Soviet

The Soviet Union will provide Cuba with its first nuclear power station and construction work should start soon, the Soviet news agency Tass reported.

The project will be based on standard water-cooled Soviet reactors already in use in most East European countries, the report said. The Cuban plant will have an 880-megawatt output.

Soviet engineers will help build the power station, which is part of an economic cooperation agreement signed a year ago, it said.
