Lisa Wichser, an American teacher held by Chinese police since Friday in connection with the alleged theft of ''state secrets,'' will be released today (June 3), the State Department said Wednesday.

Spokesman Alan Romberg was unable to give any details of the allegations against Miss Wichser but said she would be asked to leave China within 48 hours of her release.
