Longtime prime minister wins again in Bahamas

Lynden Oscar Pindling, the longest-serving government leader in the Caribbean Basin region, won the right to another five-year term as prime minister of the Bahamas with a decisive win in the general election.

Results from the 43 constituencies gave his Progressive Liberal Party 32 seats in the House of Assembly. The main opposition Free National Movement won the other 11 seats. Just over 90 percent of the 84,158 registered voters went to the polls.
