Japan reports net export decline

In a reflection of the worldwide recession, Japan's export contracts concluded in July decreased for the seventh consecutive month from the year before, the Finance Ministry reported Aug. 4.

It said exports to the United States were up 2 percent over a year ago, but those to Asia, the Middle East, and Europe were down 10 percent, 14 percent, and 7 percent, respectively.
