The governorships were at center stage in Michigan and Georgia primaries Tuesday.
Richard Headlee, running against the fiscal policies of longtime Gov. William Milliken, snared Michigan's GOP gubernatorial nomination. The top vote-getter in Michigan primaries gets the nomination without a runoff. Rep. James Blanchard (D) faces Headlee in the fall.
In Georgia, Rep. Bo Ginn was forced into a runoff for the Democratic nomination for governor. He'll face veteran state Rep. Joe Frank Harris Aug. 31. The winner will oppose state Sen. Bob Bell, the GOP nominee.
