Granola treats for a snack

This treat made with dried apricots and other good things is popular with hungry tots, teenagers home from school, or adults, and is easy to prepare ahead and freeze, as well. Granola Apricot Treats l3/4 cups flour 1/2 cup toasted wheat germ 1/2 cup nonfat dry milk 1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon baking soda 13/4 cups granola cereal 3/4 cup finely chopped dried apricots 1/4 cup sesame seeds 1 cup soft margarine 11/2 cups packed brown sugar 2 eggs 1 teaspoon vanilla

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 13 by 9 inch baking pan liberally. In a large bowl mix flour, wheat germ, milk, salt, soda, cereal, apricots, and seeds.

With an electric mixer cream margarine and brown sugar. Add eggs and vanilla and beat until fluffy.

Combine mixtures and stir until well blended. Pour into pan and spread evenly. Bake 25 to 30 minutes. Cool in pan 15 minutes then cut into bars. Makes 24 bars.

To freeze, wrap each bar in clear plastic film, place in heavy duty freezer bags and store in freezer. Slip a frozen bar into a lunch box and it will thaw and be ready to eat by lunch time.
