Roving robot clanks off to the clink

A suspicious-looking character was spotted Tuesday night sauntering along exclusive Beverly Drive with a slightly unsteady gait.
The suspect was a robot. He refused to identify himself when questioned, so police hauled him into jail for the night. ''The device was being operated . . . by remote control, but the person refused to come forward and identify himself, '' a police sergeant said. The robot-suspect is under investigation for being ''under the influence.''
