US businessmen called aggressive; Japan's, loyal

American businessmen are far more aggressive than their Japanese counterparts and Japanese businessmen are far more loyal to their companies, according to a survey of Americans working in Japan.

The study, by the Shushoku Joho Center of Tokyo, found that three-quarters of the respondents felt Americans exercise a greater leadership role and are felt to be better at problem solving, but Japanese are considered more responsible, industrious, and cooperative than Americans in similar positions. The majority of Americans also said they expected American business practices in Japan to improve within the next decade, and 65 percent said they wished to remain in Japan ''for a long time.''
